Is your school or class doing a project on the subject of Veterans,
the wars they fought in, or their experiences? We would love to know
about it, and include your project work or a write-up about your project
on Stories We Remember!
Some suggestions (but feel free to think of your own as well!) include:
- Where did the veterans come from? What areas of the country, what
nationalities?
- What was training like? How were they transported to their training
facility?
- How did they travel overseas to England or their deployment location?
Where did they stay, what were conditions like?
- What was the food like? Was other food available? How about supplies?
How often were fresh supplies available? Where did they come from?
- Where did supplies (food, materials, vehicles, weapons, etc) come
from? Who made them, and where were they made?
- Were veterans able to communicate with one another? With loved ones
back home?
- Who did the veterans meet while they were in training and while
they were deployed? What friendships were made, and are they still
in contact now?
- How did they get home after the war? How long did it take?
- Are you thankful for the contributions and sacrifices made by veterans?
How do you show your appreciation and acknowledge their contributions
to us all?
There are countless ways to acknowledge the contributions of veterans.
Take part in your local Remembrance Day event, thank a Veteran in person,
or plan an event in your own community. The important thing is that
you remember!
Would your school like to cover your local Remembrance Day event? We
would love to make your pictures and/or description of the event available
here. Please see the Remembrance
Day section for additional information.
