I joined in Montreal, Quebec, 1942. Basic Training was at Sainte Anne de Bellevue, Quebec. I posted to Montreal to the Ordinance Depot where I worked in Receipts and Issue till discharged in 1945.
A time I will never forget was when I came up on a draft to go overseas. When we had our medical exam to qualify us for overseas, they discovered I had sinus trouble. I was deleted from the draft, and I was so disappointed and so let down that I cried for three days. Then I smartened up and acted like a real trooper, continuing to do my job for the war effort.
When other CWAC's were the lucky ones to go on the overseas I wished them well, and carried on with my job.
