When I was posted to the Ordinance Corps in Edmonton, Alberta, I worked in the Radar Section, three of us ordered, received and distributed these supplies. When anything had to be shipped, we had a definite procedure. First a jeep had to be ordered from the motor pool. Two of us plus the officer went into a building about a mile away. Here the secret tubes were kept in a locked room. We had to pack everything in this room, and then take it back to the jeep and to the station where it was sent by registered express.
One time we worked for three days, eight hours on, eight hours off. This was in the regular shipping department, but everyone had to work. No one knew till afterwards that all these supplies we had to ready for shipment were for the Aleutian Islands up by Alaska.
Later the Edmonton Base Ordinance Depot was closed out and everything moved to Vancouver, BC at Hastings Park. Everything was moved under top-secret security.
It seems Canada was preparing for war with Japan, when the atom bomb was dropped bringing about VJ Day.
