I joined in 1943 when the recruiting drive came to Brantford, Ontario. Basic training was at Kitchener, Ontario for a period of six weeks.

I was posted to Montreal where I was attached to RCASC (MT Garage) for about 8 months. I was then transferred to Hamilton, Ontario. While in Hamilton I was promoted to corporal, and I stayed there till the end of the war.
