Survivor Sam

The Halifax Fur Ball.

All the ships docked right behind the Fleet Mail Office at the huge dockyard there. One day one of the ships came in and the sailors gently carry off a wrapped bundle. Wrapped in a little blanket was a tiny kitten. They left him with the staff of the Fleet Mail Office who named him Survivor Sam. That wee kitten moved right in and took over! Everybody loved him, spoiled him, and looked after him. He grew up to be a most excellent mouser who was also proficient at begging for scraps of fish from the fishing boats anchored at the dock.
